A. Facts

In mid-April of 2011, Young moved into her godmother’s house. She met Thomas at a nearby liquor store on or about April 15, 2011. Young initially thought Thomas was approaching her to sell her drugs. The two ran into each other again in the neighborhood after that and quickly became friendly. Young’s godmother told her not the get involved with Thomas. Young’s godmother was wary of Thomas because she had a previous confrontation with him. Young’s godmother also knew Thomas to be violent.
