Code of Civil Procedure1 section 231.7 prohibits discrimination in jury selection based on race, ethnicity, gender, and membership in other enumerated protected classes. Here we hold that youth, alone, is not a cognizable group under section 231.7. We also hold that a party objecting to the dismissal of a juror based on actual or perceived membership in a protected class under section 231.7 must object in the trial court or otherwise forfeits such a claim on appeal.
