People v. Bishop CA4/1

DISCUSSION
Appointed appellate counsel has filed a brief summarizing the proceedings below.
Counsel presents no argument for reversal but asks this court to review the record for
error as mandated by People v. Wende (1979) 25 Cal.3d 436. Counsel suggests, as an
issue for our review, whether the trial court erred in denying Bishop's motion to suppress
the property found during the inventory search.
We granted Bishop permission to file a brief on his own behalf, and he has
declined to do so.
Our review of the record pursuant to People v. Wende, supra, 25 Cal.3d 436 has
3 disclosed no reasonably arguable appellate issues. The record fully supports the trial
court's determination that the deputy sheriff had reasonable suspicion to stop the Sebring
and that, thereafter, law enforcement officers acted properly in seizing and subjecting the
car to an inventory search. (See People v. Griffin (1988) 46 Cal.3d 1011, 1025 ["The
propriety of a warrantless seizure and search where the vehicle is itself evidence or the
instrumentality of a crime is implicit in a number of United States Supreme Court
decisions . . . . [Citations.]"].)
