Ryan Slothower, a developmentally disabled young man, lived in his own home with the help of caregivers. One of these caregivers, defendant Robert Staples, was employed by defendant Northern California Inalliance (Inalliance). During a struggle in June 2007 Staples broke Ryan’s leg.
