FACTS AND PROCEDURAL HISTORY

Madera County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting at a residence in Madera on March 18, 2012. The residence consisted of a mobile home with a motor home parked behind it. Present were Scott Greer, Tamara Thomas, Tamara’s mother Roshena Blakney, and Roshena’s husband Ronald Blakney. The residence belonged to Roshena and Ronald,2 who lived in the motor home. Tamara was visiting and staying in a room in the mobile home, and Scott was renting a room in the mobile home. When the deputies arrived, Scott had been shot four times and sustained life-threatening wounds in his chest, abdomen, and leg. A bullet grazed Ronald’s shoulder and another grazed Roshena’s neck. Tamara had a painful and swollen ankle but had not been shot. Seven shell casings were found in the yard and driveway. Detective Bennie Romiti interviewed Tamara at the sheriff’s department office on the evening of the day of the shooting. Her statement was recorded and transcribed.
