Appellant Jerel R. Butler was charged with corporal injury to a spouse (Pen. Code, § 273.5, subd. (a)),1 with a prior conviction within seven years. (§ 273.5, subd. (e)(1) [now subd. (f)(1)].) A great bodily injury (GBI) enhancement also was alleged. (§ 12022.7, subd. (e).)
