INTRODUCTION

This appeal challenges the decision of the Board of Supervisors for the City and County of San Francisco (City) to certify the environmental impact report (EIR) for the Beach Chalet Athletic Fields Renovation Project (the project or Beach Chalet project), a sports field renovation project in Golden Gate Park. The proposed renovation includes replacing the existing grass turf fields with synthetic turf fields, installing field lighting, and other site modifications intended to improve the overall conditions of the facility and increase the amount of play time on the athletic fields.
