FERGUSON, Circuit Judge: 1 Appellants Michael and Gail Talmadge are joint debtors who appeal the district court's reversal of a bankruptcy judge's ruling in their favor. Appellants argue that when a joint bankruptcy petition is filed, California exemptions must apply separately to each spouse so that the maximum dollar amount allowed by the statute can be doubled. Appellee Charles Duck is the appointed trustee who objected to the Talmadges' claim of exemptions contained in the appellants' joint bankruptcy petition.
