At Sims' trial, Wilson claimed that during the ten day period before the robbery Sims approached him on several occasions offering marijuana. According to Wilson, on the day of the robbery he refused one of Sims' solicitations and then asked Sims where the entrance to the zoo was located. Sims allegedly stated that he was heading in that direction and the two men proceeded together towards the zoo.
