INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND On March 30, 2021, Plaintiff United States of America (the “Government”) 21 initiated this in rem forfeiture action pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 1594(e)(1)(A). (Compl. 22 ¶ 1, ECF No. 1.) Through this action, the Government seeks forfeiture of: 23 (1) $33,813. in currency seized on April 22, 2020 from US Bank Account 24 #XXXXXXXXX1782 held in the name Mei Xing pursuant to a federal seizure warrant, 25 and (2) $250,000 seized from Bail USA as a portion of the proceeds from the April 21, 26 2020 sale of real property titled in Xing’s name.
