ORDER 14 GAVIN NEWSOM, et al., 15 Defendants. 16 17 Plaintiff, a state prisoner proceeding pro se, has filed this civil rights action seeking relief 18 under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. The matter was referred to a United States Magistrate Judge pursuant to 19 28 U.S.C. § 636(b)(1)(B) and Local Rule 302. 20 Before this court are plaintiff’s motion to amend the complaint and his motion for a 21 settlement conference. ECF Nos. 19, 23. For the reasons stated below, the motion to amend the 22 complaint will be granted, and the motion to calendar a settlement conference will be denied. 23 I. MOTION TO AMEND THE COMPLAINT 24 Plaintiff’s initial complaint, ECF No. 1, has not yet been screened pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 25 1915A.
