GONZALEZ, et al., 15 Defendants. 16 17 Plaintiff is a former state prisoner proceeding without counsel in an action brought under 18 42 U.S.C. § 1983. In addition to filing a complaint, he has filed an application for leave to 19 proceed in forma pauperis pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1915 (ECF No. 2). Plaintiff’s application 20 makes the showing required by 28 U.S.C. § 1915(a)(1) and (2) and is therefore granted. 21 Determining that plaintiff may proceed in forma pauperis does not complete the required inquiry. 22 Pursuant to § 1915(e)(2), the court must dismiss the case at any time if it determines the 23 allegation of poverty is untrue, or if the action is frivolous or malicious, fails to state a claim on 24 which relief may be granted, or seeks monetary relief against an immune defendant. 25 Screening Standards 26 In screening a pro se pleading, the…
