16 17 Plaintiff Denzell Magic Metcalf is a state prisoner proceeding pro se in this civil rights 18 action filed pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. 19 On September 14, 2023, Plaintiff filed a motion for appointment of pro bono counsel. 20 (ECF No. 7). Plaintiff states that he is unable to afford counsel, that his imprisonment greatly 21 limits his ability to litigate, that the issues in this case are complex and will require research and 22 investigation. Plaintiff also states that he has limited access to the law library and limited 23 knowledge of the law, and that a trial in this case will likely involve conflicting testimony.
