CASTELLANOS, et al., (ECF No. 39) 15 Defendants. 16 17 Plaintiff is a state prisoner proceeding pro se in an action brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. 18 Plaintiff requests that the Court appoint him counsel. ECF No. 39. For the reasons stated below, 19 the motion will be denied. 20 I. MOTION FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF COUNSEL 21 In support of his motion for the appointment of counsel, Plaintiff states that he has a 22 learning disability that prevents him from reading and writing and that this will greatly limit his 23 ability to litigate this case. See ECF No. 39 at 1. He also states that he is unable to afford counsel 24 who could help him present evidence. Id. Finally, Plaintiff states that he had assistance writing 25 the instant motion. Id.
