14 B. BUGGE, et al., 15 Defendants. 16 17 Plaintiff is a state prisoner proceeding without counsel with a civil rights action pursuant 18 to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. On January 11, 2024, defendants filed a motion for summary judgment. 19 Plaintiff did not file an opposition. On June 29, 2023, the court advised plaintiff of the 20 requirements for opposing a motion pursuant to Rule 56 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. 21 See Rand v. Rowland, 154 F.3d 952, 957 (9th Cir. 1998) (en banc); Klingele v. Eikenberry, 849 22 F.2d 409, 411-12 (9th Cir. 1988). On January 11, 2024, by contemporaneous notice, defendants 23 provided plaintiff with the required Rand notice.
