17 18 Plaintiff, a state prisoner, filed this civil rights action seeking relief under 42 U.S.C. § 19 1983. Plaintiff alleges an unconstitutionally excessive use of force by prison officials at 20 California State Prison in Sacramento, California. This matter was referred to the undersigned 21 pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 636(b)(1)(B) and Local Rule 302. 22 Defendants have filed an unopposed motion to stay the proceedings in this case. (ECF No. 23 26.) In the alternative, defendants request an extension of time to conduct discovery. (Id.) For the 24 reasons set forth below, the motion to stay is granted. 25 I. Procedural Background and Motion to Stay 26 In the complaint filed on June 27, 2022, plaintiff alleges he was assaulted on March 24, 27 2020, during an emergency cell extraction. (ECF No. 1.)
