12 13 Petitioner, an inmate at California Men’s Colony – East, filed a pro se petition for writ of 14 habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254, challenging his 1994 conviction for attempted 15 murder. Dkt. No. 1. On November 27, 2019, the Court ordered petitioner to show cause why his 16 petition should not be dismissed as untimely. Dkt. No. 8. On January 16, 2020, the Court granted 17 petitioner an extension of time to March 30, 2020 to file his answer. Dkt. No. 10. The deadline to 18 answer the order to show cause has passed, and petitioner has not answered. For the reasons set 19 forth below, the Court DISMISSES the petition as untimely. 20 DISCUSSION 21 I.
