A group of ICE detainees at the Mesa Verde Detention Facility and the Yuba County Jail have filed a proposed habeas class action challenging the conditions of their confinement. They contend they are at serious risk of becoming infected with Covid-19 because ICE has refused to alter conditions at the facilities so as to enable people to keep their distance from one another. The plaintiffs have filed a motion to provisionally certify a class of all detainees at the facilities, along with a motion for a temporary restraining order requiring ICE to take measures that will enable social distancing.
