INTRODUCTION Petitioner Jason Beasley was convicted by a jury, in state court, of kidnapping to commit a sex crime, torture, attempted pandering by procuring, and attempted human trafficking for commercial sex. See Cal. Pen. Code §§ 209(b)(1), 206, 266i(a)(1), 236.1(b). The state trial court sentenced him to fifteen years, 8 months to life. Currently pending before the Court is Mr. Beasley’s petition for a writ of habeas corpus, brought pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. In the petition, Mr. Beasley seeks to have his conviction vacated.
