12 This civil rights case (“Pumphrey II”) arises from Defendants’ detention of Plaintiff at Martinez Jail on June 8, 2019. (See Dkt. No. 3.) Before the Court is Defendants’ motion to dismiss the complaint as duplicative of Plaintiff’s earlier-filed case, Pumphrey v. Contra Costa County (“Pumphrey I”), No. 3:20-cv-08474-JSC, on which this Court entered judgment on March 3, 2022. (Dkt. No. 16.) Having carefully considered the parties’ briefing, and having had the benefit of oral argument on March 3, 2022, the Court GRANTS the motion in part and DENIES in part for the reasons explained below.
