12 13 This is a defamation case against Defendant Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Meta”). Before the 14 Court is Meta’s Motion to Dismiss, which was heard before this Court on November 2, 2023. 15 Having read the papers filed by the parties and carefully considered their arguments therein and 16 those made at the hearing, as well as the relevant legal authority, the Court hereby GRANTS the 17 Motion, for the following reasons. 18 BACKGROUND 19 A. Factual History 20 Plaintiff Genevieve Mahoney is a college student at Furman University who has an 21 Instagram account with the username @genmahoney19.
