12 This is a civil rights action filed by a California prisoner proceeding without an attorney. 13 Plaintiff has served discovery requests upon Defendants, who have filed a motion for a protective 14 order seeking to provide protections for confidential documents. Rule 26(c)(1) of the Federal 15 Rules of Civil Procedure provides that upon a showing of good cause by a person from whom 16 discovery is sought, “the court in which the action is pending ... may make any order which justice 17 requires to protect a party or person from annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden 18 or expense.” Good cause exists when the party seeking the protective order shows that specific 19 harm or prejudice will result if the protection is not granted.
