12 Plaintiff Ward, who represents himself, sues Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper in his official capacity for serving a court-ordered writ of garnishment. (Dkt. No. 5 at 4-5.) Before the Court is Defendant Cooper’s motion to dismiss. (Dkt. No. 11.) Having carefully considered the briefing and with the benefit of oral argument on February 15, 2024, the Court GRANTS Defendant Cooper’s motion to dismiss. Plaintiff Ward’s § 1983 claim against Defendant Cooper in his official capacity is barred by the Eleventh Amendment and fails to state a claim for relief.
